Charlotte is responsible for policy relating to the ESA’s Net-Zero commitments and our members’ Energy from Waste (EfW) infrastructure. In 2021, the ESA established a target to achieve net-zero sectoral carbon emissions by 2040 and published a strategy to achieve this. Charlotte’s role is to ensure policy supports delivery of the ESA’s carbon reduction roadmap – through transport and grid decarbonisation, support for carbon capture, through improved energy efficiency of facilities and measures to increase recycling. Charlotte coordinates the ESA’s Climate Change and EfW working groups, as well as multiple sub-groups covering specific topic areas such as the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Prior to joining the ESA, Charlotte worked as an Environmental Scientist and researcher. Charlotte holds an MSc in Climate Change, Environment, Science and Policy from Kings College and a Geography degree from Oxford University.
