Amy currently works as a Technical Plant Engineer, supporting the existing resource management infrastructure in the UK and the development of new processes to generate increasing value from what is thrown away. She finds the technical side of her job really interesting but also enjoys engaging with those outside of the sector to support sustainable development and is currently the Young Director of Sustainability West Midlands. This is a not for profit organisation working towards making the West Midlands region more sustainable, fairer and greener for all. This year, she is a mentor for the Engineers Without Borders 2024 Reshaping Engineering Challenge but has previously also been a team member of the eXXpedition Arctic virtual voyage to investigate the impact of microplastics on the health of individuals and the environment.
