Sean is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years experience in the energy sector. Sean has worked for AFRY since 2011, initially based in Bangkok at AFRY’s regional head office for SE Asia. In 2012, Sean relocated to Kuala Lumpur to head up AFRY’s energy business unit in Malaysia. Sean returned to the UK in 2017 and currently heads up AFRY’s energy business unit in the UK.

AFRY is an international leader within engineering, design and advisory services and employs over 19,000 professionals in more than 40 countries. In South-East Asia alone, AFRY is currently involved in twelve waste-to-energy projects in five different countries.

AFRY’s Energy Division employs over 1,800 professionals and provides engineering and consulting services to clients in over 80 countries. The division has expertise in the transmission and distribution of all types of electricity generated from various energy sources, such as bio- and waste fuel, nuclear power and renewable energy sources, and holds a leading position in hydro. Waste-to-energy (WtE) is one of AFRY’s key areas of expertise. AFRY has had a substantial role in the design and construction of 135 WtE plants worldwide, with total capacity of more than 20 million tonnes per annum, and is a leading consultant in the global market. Within the UK, AFRY is currently acting as EPCM consultant for the 350 ktpa South Clyde Energy Centre in Glasgow. Prior to joining AFRY, Sean spent 5 years working as deputy engineering manager for E.ON UK plc as part of the team delivering the 1,290 MW Grain CCGT power plant Kent. Before this Sean worked for seven years for Alstom Power as a site based commissioning manager. Key projects during this period included the Pergau Hydro-electric power plant and Manjung coal fired powers plant in Malaysia. Sean started his career as an undergraduate trainee with the Central Electricity Generating Boad (CEGB) and spent his early working life as a consents engineer with National Power plc (now RWE).
